I’m Stephan, father of two daughters living in Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
IT
My journey into IT began in the 1980s with a Texas Instrument TI-99/4A which I used to learn (TI extended) BASIC. It continued with PCs, starting with a no-name 8088 and culminating in my current system, a self-built PC with an AMD Ryzen 7 5700X CPU, 80GB DDR4 RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER GPU.
Naturally, I also manage a few Linux servers for local GenAI models, email servers, and various other programs, mostly run as Docker containers within Proxmox VMs.
The first laptop I owned was a Mac, an iBook G3 Dual USB (“Snow”) from 2001, which remarkably, is still functional. 😉
I’m not only responsible for my small home lab but have also managed IT departments and built large networks and server infrastructures at FH Wiener Neustadt as well as at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA).
Currently, I am planning and building a large AI computing facility at AITHYRA.
Music
Music plays a significant role in my life. In the 90s, I was actively DJing in various pubs in Wiener Neustadt and mixing bands at SCHMU. In the 2000s, I took up playing the drums. Currently, I play with my bandmates from Sirene Frischa and Taste The Pure, and I also sing in a choir: Sings Like Teen Spirit.
Other
Besides these activities, I greatly enjoy cycling (including commuting to work), swimming, and generally going for walks and hikes. To relax at home, I read books, watch series, and play computer games, mostly RPGs. Rounding out my hobbies, I also enjoy cooking and occasionally trying my hand at baking.
